It’s the 21 st century – Even if you are a small business, no matter what line of work you are in, you need proper network protection and backup systems! Maybe a few years ago if your computer crashed and you lost all of your data or simply deleted a file accidentally, it was acceptable that “These things happen”; and you probably still kept most of your records on paper. – You could deal with it.In this modern age of computers you know that you can’t afford to loose any of yours, or your clients’ data. People expect that do business with you expect you to take good care of them, and you should take good care of your business as well.

• You may already have a backup system, but you need to ask yourself - with pictures, videos, documents and databases being stored on a PC or Server with large amounts of hard drive space.. Is your current system adequate? You should really consider this if you are still using a Removable Disk based backup system; 100 Gigabytes of data just doesn’t fit on a Zipdisk or DVD.

• Having an up to date Antivirus and Firewall solution in place is almost more important than having an adequate backup system. Not only can you loose data if you get hit with a virus; it can be stolen if proper security measures are not implemented.

You need to have good, up to date virus protection on every computer and server that is attached to your network. You should also have a hardware based firewall protecting your network at the entry point.

• You also need to have proper user and file security in place; easy or open access to your files is just not a good way to go. Maybe there are files that you want to share with certain people in your organization, but not everyone. Unless you are only working with family, having an archaic network setup is just ridiculous. We can change that.

Yes, these solutions can (but not always) tend be expensive both in hardware and labor; but consider what it could cost you in lost time, business and labor if you had to start from scratch.
